    Hey Kaveh,

This is not something that NCARB provides at this point since ARE 4.0 has been retired since last July. We highly recommend that you stick to the sample items in the ARE 5.0 Handbook since they are a better reflection of what you can expect to see on the exam.

    Kaveh,

I can also tell you from having taken several 4.0 tests in the past that the sample questions they gave you did not provide explanations to any of the questions, just gave the answers only.  So if you're needing to know "why" an answer is what it is, those old practice tests unfortunately won't be of any help.

I would offer as well that the 5.0 tests really are very different from 4.0, and I personally found 4.0 much more about memorization than applying real concepts to the field of architecture.  I would agree with above that the old 4.0 test questions wouldn't be of much help.

Thank you guys just came out of the exam and got a preliminary “pass” thanx for all the help, and I really hope ncarb doesn’t crush me by changing the results- this was after 2 failed pdd tests, and let me tell u they didn’t change their preliminary fail on those lol

    Kaveh,

Congrats!  You should feel free to celebrate - it's not going to change.  NCARB has addressed this before.  Unless someone thinks you cheated or did something illegal on these exams, that "Preliminary Pass" is going to be a true "Pass."  It has to be a unique condition to that extreme in order for it to be altered.
