Hi all, I'm reading pg 195 from the Architectural Graphics Standards 12th edition (student edition), and I have questions about this one paragraph... I reread the paragraph multiple times but was just not getting it. Can someone please help?
Question 1: What makes the insulation of "a continuous vapor retarder on the warm side" and "keeping the floor warm with insulation" difficult? Can someone explain challenges in construction?
Question 2: Why does the book suggest "to avoid insulation applied directly to the bottom of floor assemblies", but instead "use an insulated soffit"? From other resources I've been reading (Building Construction Illustrated, Ballast, earlier chapters in AGS), they all show construction details that insulation and vapor barrier should go directly beneath a floor slab, and none has mentioned this is a bad practice.
Thank you in advance!
