Pick either PcM+PjM path or PA+PPD+PDD and CE as a last piece. Each paths are together & overlapping intensely.

    For PcM+PjM, see link below.

For PA+PPD+PDD, read through slowly Ballst Book 4.0 for months or so until you finish to read once or twice.

When you have confidence for this book, schedule exam month after month & get some help from various sources not that expensive such as PPI learning hub (month to month or 6months with some discount) or designer hack, etc

    Hang,

Thanks so much for these info! I have read alot here that they take PcM, PjM and CE in that order. What are your thought about it?

What’s the difference between Ballast 4.0 book and 5.0? I am thinking of purchasing the 5.0. When you say Ballast Book 4.0, is it the Review Manual or including the Practice Exam/Problems?

4.0 is old version befor 5.0.
PA,PPD, PDD still the same but 5.0 real practice procedure oriented vs 4.0 subject oriented.
It is $10+/- or less in Amazon. Worth to have as a reference next to 5.0 ballast. Maybe better for first reader to dive into 4.0 Ballast deep & with competence, when ready study 5.0 Ballast!

I'm just starting but everyone I have talked to( friends and colleagues at my firm) thus far recommends Ballast practice exams and black spectacles. I have a lot of friends just a few exams ahead and they all used the 5.0 practice exams from the two. A few said ballast was the most realistic and a few said Black spectacles, but they all used both and passed on their first try. Most are about 3 in and have passed using that same procedure so from what I'm understand, that's your best bet.

    Hang,

    Thank you for the pointers!

    Samantha,

I’m just starting as well. I might purchase Ballast 5.0 practice exams. I heard good reviews about the Amber videos for PPS and PDD, but I am not sure if they are good for PcM/PjM/CE.

Of course :) I was going through the same process, trying to decide what to study, what practice exams. Luckily, as I mentioned, I have a few people who are currently in the process and right ahead of me who had all passed the first few. They all said the same thing about taking my first practice exam " don't freak out, it won't go well but it'll inform you more on what you need to hone in on" After taking most of them, they were definitely right. I've been going back and reading the stuff that I missed/didn't pay enough attention to and that's made me more comfortable with the material.

    Hi Rio,

I'm seeing your questions on my post, which I'll address in a minute.  Regarding Ballast Practice Exams, yes, they are excellent for PcM, PjM, and CE.  The Practice Exams and Practice Problems are very realistic and in line with how questions are presented on the ARE.  Most important of all is the solutions/explanations to each problem that Ballast provides.  You cannot go wrong with that investment.

Also, if you're taking the 5.0 exams, don't look at at 4.0 third party materials.

    Kathryn,

Thank you!!! Will surely purchase the Ballast 5.0 book! Question, is the Ballast 5.0 book practice exam/problems enough? Or should I also invest on other third party materials? Which do you recommend for PcM,PjM and CE? Black spectacles, amber book, designer hacks, etc??

Slow down, as you preparing exam with interaction of ARE 5.0 community & etc, you will have broader sense of how to prepare these exam on your own.

    Thanks Hang!

Right now I'm on the PcM/PjM/CE path. Started listening to the Schiff Hardin lectures, organized AIA Contracts from the matrix, and purchased the AHPP (because it has alot of pages, I decided to purchase the book instead of just reading the pdf's).

    Kathryn,

Thanks so much for the information. I will definitely use Ballast 5.0. Might purchase Amber for PPD and PDD, but for PcM/PjM/CE, I am still looking for other third party.

I will email you now regarding your PcM/PjM/CE Ballast materials! Thanks!! :-D

I've found Black Spectacles and Amber Book extremely helpful. My test is scheduled for next week, so I guess we'll see!
