    Shraddha,

I looked at the 2015 IBC and based on what it says, the range in PSF (lb/sqft) would be 20-100 psf.

They want pcf (lbs/cubic ft) so the only way I can think this could be converted is if we knew the actual thickness of soil or materials used. I’m assuming the referenced standard ASTM E2397 would dictate how the “weight of landscape [needs to be] computed, but if that is not provided to you I’m not sure where to go from there.

I tried to search for ASTM E2397 online but I only came across downloads for sale so I guess this is not general knowledge either.

Yea... it's a bit perplexing.  Thank you for the research.

    Shraddha,

Guess what I found while studying Ching’s Construction Illustrated Book?

In 7.09 Vegetated Roofing I found the  60-90 pcf stated.  It doesn’t explain why but it also mentions the thicknesses of soil for the different vegetated roof types which now would allow you to estimate pcf for specific soil depths...I think. Hopefully someone can shine some light on this.

I wanted to post the actual image but apparently this forum limits  total image uploads to 2MB per person for all the posts ever posted in this forum so here’s a link to the image uploaded to Pinterest.
