I'm studying requirements for ramps and found something seemingly conflicting each other;
IBC 1003.5......Where the difference in elevation is 6 inches (152mm) or less, the ramp shall be equipped with either handrails or....
IBC 1012.8 Handrails. Ramps with a rise greater than 6 inches (152mm) shall have handrails on both sides.
I don't understand why handrails are required for the ramp less than 6" elevation change...even 1" elevation change ramps need handrails?
