    U-value is provided per assembly.  Each wall type, door, window, roof assembly.  When you get the average, you have to find the area of each assembly and weight it against the area of the exterior walls.

    Thank you very much for your response! This calculation would also take into effect the difference between temp inside and outside, correct?

    The difference in temperature shouldn't impact the U-Value of the wall.  You can use the U-Values of an assembly to determine the temperature at any point inside the wall if you're given the inside and outside temperatures, though.
