The details tend to steer towards commercial-type construction, as opposed to residential. I Instead, I suggest focusing on BCI wall assemblies - identifying parts and pieces, flashing, building techniques etc. Keep in mind that you will be asked questions in a way that will bring in other 'subject areas'. For example, which side of the wall should the vapor barrier be located? So, understanding the climate, humidity issues, daylighting, appropriate construction, waterproofing, foundation issues etc...any combination of these issues will come into play in a given detail question, whether it is labeling the parts or the aforementioned location-type question.

Make sure you have a good grasp of CONCEPTS. I don't think you need to study a Simpson-Tie brochure, that is way off target IMO.

Hi thank you for the question and comments. I am wondering what is the AGS and BCI detail you are talking about? I am trying to get some reference to understand the details. Thank you.

    Mengxuan:

AGS: Architectural Graphic Standards, BCI: Building Construction Illustrated.

Both are study resources, both are valuable to review for this exam.
