Here's something I'm still not clear on and I can't find a straight-forward answer to it in any of my material...
An architect agrees to design a project for 10% fee and the project's budget is $1 mil. What is the architect's budget if:
1) The bid comes in at $900,000? Does the architect only earn $90,000, or do they still earn the $100,000 per the original project budget?
2) The owner or contractor gets donated materials or labor, bringing the actual construction cost down below the $1 mil original budget?
My office architect's say the Architect's pay would be based off the original project budget and all these other factors are irrelevant, but I just wanted to know what the correct answer is to a situation like this in regards to NCARB and the ARE tests.
