I passed PjM yesterday and wanted to share how I prepared. Hopefully it will help others out.
This was my second exam (I took PcM in May).
First, the advice on these boards have been super helpful so thanks to anyone asking questions and giving their advice.
Second, for study material I started out reading Ballast. Then I read through the AHPP chapters recommended by Kevin Griendling and took notes. I also subscribe to the Pluralsight videos which I thought were a helpful overview of what to study. There is a "test your knowledge" section that I found helpful as well.
While studying for PcM, I listened to every Shiff Hardin lecture, so this time around I focused on the contracts lectures and listened to them again. I also read through the recommended contracts a few times to understand them.
After reading I basically grabbed every test and quiz I could get my hands on. The Ballast practice problems and practice exam were the most helpful because they explain the answers. Although, a few questions were not correct. I make a note of the questions I get wrong and search the AHPP or AIA contracts for the subject matter and make sure I know it. Making my own flashcards for things I consistently got wrong really helped too.
Other testing sources I used:
- 4.0 CDS and PPP practice exams. The CDS one is more useful than PPP.
- Quiz on designerhacks.com
- Black specktacles ARE Live: Project management mock exam review
As far as topics on the exam, the contracts are a main one, along with knowing how to edit schedules and knowing the differences between them, and quality control.
Hopefully this helps! Happy Studying!
