    Asra,

You should know in general what items go in Divisions 00 and 01.  I actually googled this to find out a bit more information.  For the rest of it, you don't need to know the level of specifics such as Door Hardware being 08 71 00, but, you SHOULD know that Division 08 covers Openings.  Know what each Division covers so that if you were asked a question about which division something goes in, you'll know.  Other than that, look at the sample question in the ARE 5.0 Handbook - the one where they give you a building elevation and a bunch of spec sections, and it asks you what spec section is missing per the drawing below? (the answer being the metal guardrails).  You should know how to do similar questions like that.  Essentially - be able to translate between specs and drawings.

    Hope that helps.

No, I think if you can cover this you should be good.  Most of the questions really are going to be geared towards the sample one in the ARE Handbook.  You need to be able to correlate a set of drawings with specs.  Use that sample question as your guide and if you feel comfortable with that you should be fine.

That question seems almost too easy. wonder how they would twist it in the exam?

Having personally taken the exam, I didn't find any of the spec-related questions to be any harder than this or again, being able to identify what items belong in which section.  I personally didn't have a ton of spec questions at all - I know everyone's test is different though.

Know the different Divisions and be able to identify what division some item should go in. Be able to look at a drawing and if they're pointing to an item in a wall section and ask you what spec section would need to be correlated to it, be able to have the ability to do that.

Know Division 00 and 01 - what items go in there?  If a project has a special requirement that bidders need to know about, where would you put that in the spec book?

Hope that helps - you should be fine!
