    Mahya,

Congrats on your passes! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I am currently studying for PA right now and have planned out about 6 weeks to study (I have a week long vacation coming up, so I wanted to make sure I have plenty of study time).

Did you touch the Site Planning and Design Handbook at all during your studies? Also, did you find some overlap between CE and PA? (I passed CE too! Just last week!)

    Thanks!

    Hey Tasanee,

I didn't really have time to study anything else as I work full time. Taking the quizzes online helped a lot though.

There was a lot of overlap between the two, definitely good to have the CE knowledge.

    Good Luck!

Mahya, congrats! I failed my exam this afternoon... I got the ‘likely fail”

I wonder if it ever occurs that someone actually passes after they review the exam, maybe that will be tomorrow... ;)

    Hi Mahya

Did you use the online quizzes from Archexamacademy for both PA and CE. How is it compared to Brightwood?

    Hi Nishu,
The archexam questions are more detail oriented. I think more than what the exam requires but for me personally, it’s just a good way to review material through quizzes. They are different than Brightwoods. I suggest taking both as each take a few hours max

Hi everyone. Congratulations to those who've managed to pass PA and CE!. Well done!

I haven't yet taken any exams. I have scheduled my PA for June 21st (4 weeks from now with 4 weekends). I have 15 years experience but not in the US, so I'm not that familiar with reference books, etc.

I was planning to use David Kent Ballast's study guide (chapters 7 to 11 and in addition 12 to 15). But I see it's also been recommended the Brightwood study material.

Based on your experience, is 4 weeks too tight?. Should I study both from Ballast and Brightwood? Should I take online quizzes first?. I need a little bit of orientation here.

    Thanks a lot!

    Hello Patricia,
I am in a similar situation, whereas I haven’t worked in the U.S. that much. My experience and
college formation where in Mexico. Maybe we should be study buddies, if you are interested, my email is luzcri@hotmail.com and I am starting with P.A. but I haven’t scheduled it yet.
    Regardless, good luck!

Hi Luz! I'm using Ballast and Brightwood. I also have the Building codes illustrated and I was hoping to read some of the other books ARE recommends for PA. I'll let you know how it goes!!

Regarding being study buddies, I'm turning down that offer even from my friends... I'm not good at partnering for studying. But happy to assist with anything else I can!

    Good luck with the studying!

    Hi Mahya,

Congrats on your pass! I will take PA soon and even though I read recommended materials in 5.0 Handbook, I really need some practice questions. I looked into arch exam academy after reading your post and it says they have 2 practice exams for PA. Do you know how many questions they have in each one of them?

Thanks and good luck with the rest of your journey!
