How much to memorize?

Hello everyone,

I'm currently studying for PPD and PDD, and I was wondering how much I need to memorize when it comes to structure. More specifically, bolt and screw types, or any small, similar details. I'm horrible when it comes to these things, and while I know and understand the different parts of wood or concrete framing, I'm worried if I need to also learn and memorize what type of nails are better to use for certain pieces.

Those who have taken these exams, do you recommend learning such details, or are they not relevant?
