PPD PASSED AFTER 4 TRIES!!
I was finally able to pass this last exam as it was by far the most challenging for me. My second and third time taking it I barely failed with 525, so seeing the PASS at the end was such a great moment. I felt very discouraged after having to wait 6 months to retake again but it feels great to know that we are all capable of passing. What worked for me this fourth time was really focusing on doing as many practice exams and questions as possible, while also reviewing more PA content as some of that content overlaps with PPD.
I cant recommend Elif Bayram enough for this. Those questions are challenging and really allow you to get into the exam way of thinking, especially the code excerpt ones, I got so used to knowing where certain things were that I lost no time doing that during the actual exam. I also recommend Hyperfine PPD and PDD 9 week study guide. I did all of it in a week and also helped me a ton! I had access to Black spectacles through my firm and although it was useful for the contract exams, I found it to be less useful for the PA, PPD and PPD. Their videos are a bit too broad, so the information wasn't as helpful. I definitely used their quizzes and exams though. Some of their questions are also harder than the actual exam and were helpful. Finally, do take the NCARB practice exam a week or so before and study those questions and answers. get familiar with the way they ask the questions and how they pick answers. In my previous attempts I always found myself misreading the questions. Studying and understanding the material itself is obviously the most important thing for these, but spending time with similar style questions in practice exams and quizzes is also important, it will allow you to move quicker through the actual exam. All three tries before I almost always finished with 5 minutes or less. This time I finished the exam with almost an hour and a half left to review and I submitted with 40mins left. Wish you all the best of luck!! Now its the California Supplemental Exam for me!
