Allowable Area Factor

Hi,

This is a question from the Practice Exam. It seems the Allowable Area Factor is per story if it's a multi-story building, but not the entire building. Am I correct?

  Yes, because it’s the area of each floor. Then add each allowable floor area if calculating for the entire building.
  Others: please correct if I’m wrong.

  Yes, the allowable area factors on Table 506.2 in the IBC are for each floor. Here is a screenshot from IBC 2021 Building Code Essentials defining the purpose of the area limitations section in the code.
