Same questions on my exam twice

It happens. Because the software randomly picks 100 questions from a larger pool of PDD questions and there are certain amount of questions in the pool for each exam. So you can get the same or similar questions more than once, especially if you test close by. But be careful sometimes even when the questions seem the same, there might be a slight change which might impact the correct answers. Memory can be misleading too.

This is interesting, does the software gives the same exam to a percentage of candidates, or is the exam individualized based on this pull? How does putting the same questions on the exam 2 or 3 time or even the choose/select the four help determines a person competence to practice architecture?

Hi everyone,
We wanted to provide a quick clarification regarding some of the points raised in this thread.
First, the exam delivery software is designed to prevent the same question from appearing more than once during a single exam session. While some items may seem similar—especially if they reference the same graphic—they are each written to assess different knowledge or skills.
Regarding how the exam is constructed, NCARB does not use linear-on-the-fly testing (LOFT), where exams are generated dynamically. Instead, multiple fixed exam forms are created annually for each division of the ARE. Each form contains a unique set of questions, ensuring that if you need to retake an exam division, you'll encounter a different set of items.
We hope this clears things up!
