A question of Practice Exam

This is a question in the Practice Exam. I think the open end should be to the SOUTH (as I sketched), which also matches the answer explanation as I understand. Anyone can help explaining the answer of NORTH?

  The difference between having the open end facing north vs facing south has to do with the wind direction. Consider someone using the meditation garden getting hit constantly with arid winds if the building is to the north vs to the south where it begins to break up and block those prevailing southern winds.

  Wind is only cooling in temperate and hot/humid environments. In hot/dry, you want to avoid wind as well as direct sunlight.
