Financial Practice Questions
Does any one one what the best place or resource is to find Financial Questions for the PCM Test? I am currently using Black Spectacles, PPI books and the NCARB Practice Test; but they don't seem to have similar questions to the once on the test. Even the Practice test from NCARB hasn't been updated since the last time I took it.

I have quite a good experience with the Financial Management part of the PcM, as I've worked for the PcM since January. If you reach out via leventkulacoglu@gmail.com, I'll gladly help you sort it out.

Kiara,
Yes i have taken the practice test and it does not have questions similar to the ones on the test regarding the profit ratio or financial questions I'm looking for. Also, I have taken the test more than one time and the questions have not been updated since last year 08/2024.

Thank you for the feedback, Aibarra8537. We are continuously reviewing our practice questions to ensure that the content is relevant and in alignment with the ARE 5.0 Guidelines. If something hasn't been updated for some time, it does not mean that it is incorrect or outdated; it just means that is still applicable to the exam today :)
If you have any concerns about the content in our study materials, don't hesitate to reach out to support@blackspectacles.com. We want to make sure that you are confident in the information you are learning and can use them to their full potential to pass the exams!

I had a similar experience with the PcM test I just took. None of the practice exams on black spectacle or NCARBs practice test were as complicated as the ones on the test. I passed multiple practice exams and didnt feel prepared going into that test. I too am looking for more practice questions to help prepare me for a retake that are closer to what is on the test. I understood the concepts but couldnt get the math to come out to the options available because I must me making an error on one of the multiple steps to get the answer on each.

jksenn4 I'm sorry to hear that you've ben having a difficult time with the math concepts. They are definitely tricky! While you won't see the exact same questions on the ARE as you would on a practice exam, the practice questions are intended to demonstrate what types of topics would be presented an how they would be asked in a question on the ARE. It's important to not memorize answers, but instead focus on deeply understanding the content and processes. Don't forget to read through the answer explanations thoroughly, as they will provide reasonings for correct/incorrect answers, helpful information on adjacent topics, and references to source material (i.e. AHPP) so that you can dive deeper in the concepts as needed.
Have you attended any of our Virtual Workshops? They are a great way to get extra practice with the most difficult ARE topics while you collaborate with peers, and they are led by registered architect coaches. We have a popular PcM workshop called "Evaluating a Firm's Financial Metrics" and I think it is exactly what you are looking for. Deciphering terms and formulas, while figuring out how to translate them to a scenario on the ARE, can be very challenging - in this workshop, you'll work through a Group Exercise that is structured similarly to a case study, which will help you apply your knowledge to the ARE format!
Check out your dashboard for upcoming dates/topics that will be covered and RSVP ahead of time!
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
