Clarification on Using Newer Editions for ARE 5.0 Preparation

Hi, I'm preparing for the ARE 5.0 PPD exam and studying Heating, Cooling, Lighting: Sustainable Design Methods for Architects. The ARE 5.0 Handbook references the third edition, but I only have access to the fourth edition. Can I still use the fourth edition for preparation, or are there significant content differences that might impact my study? Additionally, does NCARB generally recommend using the latest edition of a reference book, or should we strictly follow the edition listed in the ARE 5.0 Handbook? This would help clarify if newer editions of other reference books are acceptable for exam prep. Thanks for any guidance!

  Hi Israel,
  Great question and hopefully NCARB will weigh in. Just came to say, I read both editions of this book and I think 4th edition should still be good for AREs. But of course NCARB should clarify.
