Hi, I was wondering if storage area is part of the net area or not? I looked at so many resources and getting mixed information. On the attached image from an ncarb practice exam, storage is excluded, however in an old ballast book, its included

  I would think Net Area to strip away all circulations, back of house support space and auxiliary functions down to the very basic, programmed sq ft for the building's intended uses. So it might has something to do with whether the mentioned storage is one of the assignable primary programs (like in a warehouse, Group S, then included in Net) or a non-assignable small 20 sq ft storage room in a Conference Center (Group A, then excluded in Net) / a Janitor's Closet in a Hospital (Group I, then excluded in Net).

  (and NCARB wrote the exams so I guess to lean toward their rationale? ;] )
