It's probably more important to know what things/materials are grouped in a division, than to memorize a division number. Like, what division would a hung metal balcony go in? Metal fabrications. I wouldn't worry about the number, they would probably give you that information.

The WeARE practice exam required memorization of specification divisions....but it also required memorization of AIA Document numbers which NCARB does not- such as memorizing that G710 is Architect's Supplemental Instructions (I kept thinking it was G711, but that's Architect's Field Report). My point is, NCARB would most probably not require us to remember specific details, just to know which item goes with which spec.

I bought the WeARE content... and while its helpful as exposure to the content, there are some things that vary wildly from the actual exams. You've touched on a big one. The practice exams also feel nothing like the actual exams.

I won't call it a waste of money or anything. Its helpful. But if you're looking for something that feels close to a 1 to 1 experience to the exams, its not that.
