Taking PPD again after 4 year - need some help
Hi
I am taking my PPD again after years from last time I took it and failed. It has been a while, so I almost went back to square one I think.
After 4 years, the study material that I used is probably outdated, so to be honest, I think I am kind of lost where to start. I am searching and reading questions and answers here in this forum. but since I have failed few times before already, I would really appreciate any guidance or comments as fresh start,
Any recommendations for study materials, online lectures or any helpful tips?
I also need to take PDD as well, but thinking of taking PPD first, not even sure that is the right decision. Is IBC still helpful material to study? Honestly any comments are welcomed.
Thank you!!

I definitely agree with you, JCorrington in the PPD and PDD overlap directly with one another. Many candidates, including myself, consolidate studying efforts for the two because of how much they overlap. Per the ARE 5.0 Guidelines, not only do the recommended resources overlap between PPD & PDD - there are also content areas and specific objectives that overlap (meaning, you are being tested on essentially the same or similar topics).
I also agree with you, Galchenko12 in that PPD is also a continuation of PA. The ARE divisions (specifically PA, PPD, PDD, and CE) are intentionally structured to align with the design phases of a project. With that said, it helps to think of them chronologically and logistically, as you would in real life. The content is not isolated from one division to another; rather, they are similar topics that build on each other from phase to phase, and you are being tested on them from different perspectives of design (and construction).
Regardless, everyone has a different experience and perspective when it comes to these exams. That's what makes them so difficult in nature - you don't know exactly what to expect when test day comes! Building your bank of practice questions and taking full-length practice exams (that simulate the real thing) will give you your greatest chance of being prepared for any question that comes your way.
Good luck to you all!
