Finally Passed PA!
It has been a long journey but I finally passed this exam! I tried and failed 3x prior. 2x in 4.0 and once in 5.0 in 2022, today I finally passed thanks to Amber Book thank you mermann. I grossly underestimated my first attempt, did not study for my second. On the third attempt I had studied only using Amber Book and when I got that fail I was really disappointed by Amber Book only because I felt like it did not prepare me for this one at all. I was so wrong! First of all I had skipped the flashcards, big mistake! Also, I did not retain a lot of the information and disregarded concepts that were covered that I felt like I did not have a grasp on. If you are like me and have a tough time with this exam, do this: I went through the entire Amber Book series again in 2024, (don't take a 2 year break like I did) and wrote my own study notes, I did the "Walking the ARE" practice exam (included with Amber Book), the amber book practice exam and the NCARB practice exam. On my final attempt I felt really prepared and comfortable with the material during the exam. A tip that helped me too is if a problem looked like a long one that I had to think through I flagged it. In the past I was obsessed with not skipping any problems and that really ate through my time. In the end I had time to come back to it with a few minutes to spare. PA is the biggest time crunch for all 6 exams in my opinion and this tip help me a lot.
I went from a person failing PA three times to now with Amber Book, passed 4 exams on my first try. (3 of them in two weeks) PcM 12/17/21, PjM 12/22/21, CE 12/30/21, PPD 9/6/24, by solely doing Amber Book. I have one exam left to go, PDD!
Thank you Michael, keep doing what you are doing! Amber Book is well worth the investment not only for the AREs but they make you a better architect too!
