    Hello Rachel,

I think it needs a lot of Patience. it took me 3 months to get approved. I submitted my application in January and got approved on March 28th. If you call NCARB they can let you know if your application is complete or if they are waiting for a response from your registration board of your country or the educational institute.

If there are a lot of applicants it might take a little longer. I will just start studying so you are ready to take the exams as soon as you get approved.

    All the best.

    Hi Radhika,

Thanks for your message. I have called and emailed NCARB multiple times but have not received any updates. They say the foreign architect desk does not have a phone number so I have been limited to emails.

I am studying and doing my AXP in the mean time.

I had similar situation, that take a while. Better start study for your exams, that is the longer and harder process, the studying.

I am seeking licensure in Washington under the Foreign Architect Path. Did anyone here have to gain additional years of experience beyond the AXP? I was informed by the Department of Licensing in Washington that I need a total of 8 years of education and work experience to obtain an architect's license in Washington. My Bachelor of Architecture (5-year course from India) is from a non-NAAB-accredited program; it only qualifies for 3 years plus 2 years of AXP. This means I would need to continue working for an additional 3 years to meet the 8-year requirement. Has anyone faced a similar situation?

AnneJayapaul - From which University in India have you done your Bachelor in Architecture? I've heard the same thing from others too, it seems like additional AXP hours are required typically for foreign education.

Hi I did my paperwork from Council of architecture. That I am a registered architect in India. Then I also asked my University in India JNTU school of planning and Architecture to send attested transcripts.to NCARB directly. It took about 3 months for NCARB to verify everything after they got the documents and cleared me for exams. They gave me 1750 axp hr to start with and I had to gain the additional AXP hrs from working in USA under an architect. I did the exams parllel to the AXP. I recently finished my exams and axp and received the NCARB certificate. The entire process took me two yrs. Actually I think I did my last exam and last 100 hrs of AXP together. I think I also paid about 1400 after NCARB review my documents and gave clearances for exam. In addition to the exam fee.
You have to maintain your registration in India and they ask you to submit a form filled by COA one more time before you get your NCARB certificate

Has anyone finished the process? My india license was paused since coa india wont allow you to have license if youre living outside india. Will COA still sign the credential verification form? I have completed ARE AND AXP and trying to find next steps but have had no luck yet

    Hi Parinita,
I was in touch with COA through their wattsapp number. +91 70429 39122. Who ever is monitoring this account is very sweet and very responsive. I gave them my NCARB number and the COA number and asked them to send an email to NCARB about my status. I think NCARB is more interested in knowing if you are in good standing and have no pending disciplinary actions. Try to approach with this number. Good luck and congratulations on completing the difficult task.
