Schedule of Values Practice question.
Can someone please explain the logic behind this question?
My answer was 9- ACT Ceiling Tile.

Hi Edgar Alatorre,
Thank you for your question. For this item, it is important to understand not just how a schedule of values is used to calculate progress payments, but also the sequence of typical construction activities.
As the answer explanation states, "concrete floor slabs" includes multiple tasks (locations). Typically, concrete floor slabs would be installed in separate pours, rather than all at once. It would be difficult to verify the percentage completed for all floor slabs in general, but would be simpler to determine for each separate slab as they are poured.
This is especially the case when it comes to different types of concrete slabs in a given project (i.e. slab on grade vs slab on deck). The prompt also indicates that this is a new building, which points to the assumption that there will be site work included in the scope and therefore other types of concrete slabs (i.e. parking slabs, plazas, sidewalks).
In contrast, it would be clear to see the general progress of ceiling tile installation (i.e. 100% complete on the first floor + ~50% complete on the second floor = ~75% complete total).
Check out page 1089 of The Architect's Handbook of Professional Practice for further information about progress payments and schedule of values.
Hope this helps. Happy studying!
