Whiteboard Issues
Is NCARB open to the option to allow in-person exam takers to be given a simple tablet with a stylus to use instead of the digital whiteboard? Test takers return the tablet to PSI after completing examinations. Or for the PSI computers to be touch screen devices while taking the exam. Using the keyboard and mouse is too cumbersome for the whiteboard?

NCARB, some of us might not have been here navigating through comments when the Whiteboard conversations were taking place. Not having the possibility to scratch on a white paper like all architects normally do in their daily basis, makes this exam even more difficult than the content.
Is there a chance for NCARB to even consider removing the Whiteboard from the exam and having a paper?
I am not asking to bring my own paper and pens. They could be provided at the center like other test takers use. At the end this is an exam for architects.

Jorge,
The topic of the whiteboard has been discussed numerous times on the ARE 5.0 Community since introduced, with two blog posts published to provide more details. At this time, NCARB is not considering options to replace the whiteboard. Those you suggest would increase the cost of the exam significantly, which would in turn increase your exam fees.

Adelina,
NCARB is not considering reinstating the use of scratch paper in test centers.
All ARE-related blog posts, including those on the whiteboard and its use, are available at ncarb.org. Detailed information on taking the ARE is available in the ARE 5.0 Guidelines. Please contact NCARB's customer service for assistance with specific ARE-related questions.
