PjM and CE - Doubling Up Testing

    Hi Matthew,

It's an interesting idea, I haven't heard about folks pairing these two exams specifically. Personally, I found these tests quite different. While PjM and CE both cover the AIA contracts heavily, they have different centers of focus: PjM is primarily focused on B101, A101, and A201 and will test you extensively on the boundaries of the architect's contractual obligations and roles, while CE is also going to expect you to be familiar with the application for payment & continuation sheet, change orders, and other AIA documents in the A and G series and therefore takes a broader and slightly shallower view of the contracts. I actually took CE before PjM and in hindsight was grateful that I had already read B101, A101, and A201 all the way through a few times before CE and had the basics covered before having to dive into the nitty-gritty. Most find PjM the easiest exam (I did) but you definitely have to be comfortable with what's in those 3 main contracts. If you are comfortable with reading a lot and aren't worried about the number of contracts you have to get through, then studying for both could work.

    Hi Marie,

Thank you for such a thought-out response! I decided to give myself additional time to study for PjM to really focus on contracts, then I will quickly schedule CE after the PjM exam depending on my comfort level of the material.
