I haven't reviewed the 5.0 material yet, but on the 3 other 4.0 tests, I studied the Ballast material (along with other notes and reference materials). I ALWAYS bombed the practice tests and sample questions, but I passed the 3 exams the first time. I think they are just really hard questions most of the time and have a lot of ambiguous or interpretation questions that the actual exam won't have. I always took the practice quiz and made sure to review the reasoning for every answer just to get a better idea of how to think about these things.

    Anyone else think differently?

I agree. The Ballast practice tests are very very difficult...regardless of what division it is. I also agree it's helpful to go over the answers/reasoning. After I felt I understood the answers, I retook portions of the practice exam to see if I could do better.

Yeah that's exactly what I've done. Scoured through every answer and ran through all of the questions again. 99% make sense with a few errors that were writers mistakes.

I guess the silver lining is I'm diving a lot deeper into each item to understand and find things I didn't retain or understand.

I took this a few days ago and got 60% of the questions correct. What are other people scoring?

I found the test to be aimed more at finding what you don't know than a test of understanding and application. That was helpful, as it was a good piece of study material, but it wasn't really a "practice test."

Clif, that's what I got as well when I took it. Reviewed everything a few times and once more tonight. Crossing my fingers and taking the test tomorrow.

You're right though the test was more to show you what you didn't absorb which was a really good review.

    Layne,

Phew. Thank you for the response. And good luck tomorrow!

I test Tuesday. I am spending my evening with The Architect's Studio Companion and my review ("things I didn't get") notes.

I once took the Ballast practice exam open book to try to absorb the material. I failed that even. Ballast practice exams are just hard and not helpful either. After failing SS, I went back to Ballast and few to none of the problems represented anything on the actual exam. Had I mastered the content on Ballast, would I have passed the exam? Possibly, but who can do that?

I'm reading through Ballast 4.0 for PPD. After passing 4 exams in 4.0, I have a pretty good idea of what I can skip over.
