503.1.4 Exception 1
Hello! Just completed the NCARB Practice Exam for P+A and I am a little confused about the correct answer here. I feel as though the addition of the fire alarm system to be audible at the roof would be very much beneficial, but not required by the code they are providing here. What verbiage am I not understanding clearly?

This caught me out as well. The "occupant notification in accordance with Section 907.5" is an audible, emergency voice, or visible alarm. When reading the question during my practice exam, I assumed it was the posted sign stating the maximum number of people that can be on the roof patio. I suppose the key is that the section referenced is chapter 9, that should have set off alarm bells! Sorry for the terrible pun, couldn't help myself.

I think they updated this as I took PA practice exam 4/19 and the code excerpt clarified the issue -
the owner wants the whole building to be able to use the rooftop, not just the occupants of the story immediately below the rooftop. If you want to allow everyone up there, you need an voice/alarm communication system.
