PPD Practice Exam case Study
For this PPD practice case study the scenario talks about the existing occupancies and then goes into detail about what the existing buildings will be turned into a gives a hits what the new occupancy groups will be. Then there are two questions that require you to know the occupancy group of each building. How should a candidate know whether or not to use the occupancies of the existing buildings or the occupancies of the proposed building? When given the explanation of the question I find out that the question was asking about the occupancy group of the exiting buildings but how is that relevant if all the buildings are going to be converted to new uses as explained in the scenario?
Thank you

Hi Kayla,
I believe the answers given are correct. We are designing for the new occupancies. BUT, the church (old use) and performance space are both A (assembly occupancy). And the response for question #100 states that the non-sprinklered gallery, A, and the parking garage, S-2 occupancy need a 1-hr rating in between. This is correct. Refer to the IBC tab, the table below. I highlighted that 1 hr separation. And I didn't highlight the other, but you can see on the table that no separation is required between 2 Assembly use groups, whether they are sprinklered or not.
Hope this helps! Best of luck studying!
