PSI Security Check Cut into Exam Time

I took PjM from home on Monday and after returning from a break, PSI conducted a security test while my exam time started counting down again. I asked the proctor to pause the time but they responded that they weren’t able to. Shouldn’t the time have still been paused during this check?

Should I have returned from the break early to account for the security check? That doesn’t seem fair as that’s not truly a 30 minute break.
