What is the difference between the different construction types?

What are good resources for studying?

  Type I: Fire-resistive.
  Type II: Non-combustible.
  Type III: Ordinary.
  Type IV: Heavy timber.
  Type V: Wood-framed.

  Each type has different properties. Most expensive is type I cheapest is type V. Recommend to read IBC chapter 5 and 6.

  Consider looking into 2018 IBC Illustrated, and the Building Construction book by Mehta.
