EESA Credit Deficiency - Building Performance BP
-
Hi Belen,
I would check which one of these schools are closer to me, and then contact their School of Architectures' Career Advisor asking them to suggest me a course that can satisfy that deficiency. If they need more information, I'd refer them to the NCARB Education Standards. After their suggestion, I'd submit that course to the NAAB for their approval. And once with their approval, I'd apply for admission as a non-degree student. That's more or less how I did it. And a year later, I've satisfied all my deficiencies. If you need any more help, don't hesitate on contacting me.
Good luck!

Hi Guillermo, thanks for your kind answer and help. I did get the approval and the non degree seeker for the rest of the deficiencies I had. However, I tried so far 9 courses at different universities like UCF, Valencia College, FIU and UF and none of them have pass the pre-approval. So I was wondering if someone in the community had a class for Building Performance that got it approved recently.
Thanks again. -
Hi Belen, I am looking for the same class. So far I did get approval for 1.5 credits out of the 3 credits required. Details below
SUS 2028 -ENERGY MODELLING IN BUILDING DESIGN - BOSTON ARCHITECTURAL COLLEGE - 1.5 Credits
Energy Modeling in Building Design #SUS2028 (the-bac.edu)
ILLINOIS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY also offers the same classes but are a bit more expensive as compared to others.
Class Schedule Listing (iit.edu)
Applied Building Energy Modeling - 29494 - CAE 550 - 01 3 credits
Applied Building Energy Modeling - 52300 - CAE 550 - 02 3 credits
I hope this helps you or anyone who might be looking for these classes.

Hi Belen,
I'm going through the same path and have been looking for a course than can fulfil my credits deficiency in building performance but no luck in that, all got denied by the EESA pre approval system.
I was wondering if you got lucky and got approved for a course?
Thank you!

Hi Hend,
If this helps I did get NCARB approval for Building Performance with the two classes listed below
SUS2007 - SUSTAINABLE DESIGN WAY OF THINKING
Sustainable Design as a Way of Thinking #SUS2007 (the-bac.edu)
SUS 2028 -ENERGY MODELLING IN BUILDING DESIGN - BOSTON ARCHITECTURAL COLLEGE - 1.5 Credits
Energy Modeling in Building Design #SUS2028 (the-bac.edu)
All the best.

Thank you Victor!
Unfortunately there are no seats left for one of these courses that you posted, I was wondering if all courses under sustainable design are approved? or do know any other courses that are similar and approved by NCARB? I'm looking for courses that starts from Jan 22 and ends before may, thus with the preapproval form waiting time it's almost impossible to get answers before registration deadline.

Hi, Recently, the EESA evaluated my degree, and I need to complete 3 credits in Building Performance. Unfortunately, my initial pre-approval submission was denied. I live in Florida and can only take online classes. Does anyone know where I can register for this credit online, in any state? Has anyone had a similar experience?
Thanks so much for your help!

Hello All, first thank you Victor for the post with your classes, that's so nice of you. Now I have also went to Boston Architectural College, the classes were approved and they were online you can take them in the continue education path. The tricky part is that I have to take 2 classes to complete the 3 credits. Each class was 1.5 credits, however you can try different classes in ESSA before taking them.
I took
SUS2026- greening the city
And preservation of Historical Buildings.

In case anyone interested. I took these two from BAC
SUS2025 Greening Existing Buildings (1.5)
SUS 2029 Green Practice (1.5)
I also got pre-approval from EESA to take this course at LSU online continuing education but I did not due to schedule conflict so I went with BAC. LSU is pretty cheap for 3 credits.
