Performance mock up v.s Pre-tendering mock up

on Ncarb's practice exam, there was a question about what mock up to use to select contractor for some complicated construction. The correct answer they gave was pre-tendering mock up instead of performance mock up. Does anyone have experience with pre-tendering mock up? I have never, the two mock ups I've dealt with are visual mock up and performance mock up.

  What is the difference between the 3 types? Is performance for testing, such as water penetration, design and structural integrity.  Visual mockup for a realistic model of the building. Is pre tendered basically a scaled down of a visual mockup with section on the building, such as windows siding, masonry.
