I have the same question. When researching online, not much comes up as it relates to construction. I did find some language as it relates to finance. Tender refers to an invitation to bid on a project, which is aligning with the explanation the practice exam provided. So it sounds like a "pre-tender mock up" is used to evaluate a contractor prior to them being issued the bid. I don't know for sure if this is the extent of the definition and I've also never heard of the term before in the industry.

Think of pre-tender as a way for competing contractors to demonstrate their abilities with a challenging installation. For performance mock-ups is more about demonstration of certain installation features and to do performance testing.

Doubly Curved Metal Panel Cladding (complex, challenging unique construction)

    Target Goal:

    • 'Select most capable contractor for supply and installation'

    The correct tag was:

    • 'Full scale pre-tender mock up'

    The explanation was:

    • 'These are used to identify the most capable contractor for complex and challenging constructions.'
