Screen went blank - lost time – ARE 5.0 Community

I took PDD today at home with an online proctor. About an hour and a half in my screen went blank and I couldn't reload it. My proctor told me to call tech support and I confirmed many times that I could go get my phone to do so while still technically in the test. I also grabbed paper and pen to write my ticket number. I was nervous the whole time I'd fail for having those items at my desk even though I needed them to resolve my issue. Worst of all was that I lost the 20 mins it took to get me back into my test, and at the end I really needed those 20 mins. I haven't gotten my results yet but this totally threw me off and broke my momentum. I understand technical issues happen but losing the time from the test is very upsetting.

I am so so sorry, Talia. The worst is that there’s no “remedy” that could make it right without burdening you substantially. A retake means more stress, more studying, more time away from family. I so hope you pass anyway and that the whole thing gets to just be a rotten day.

Things like this are why I just go to a testing center... If something goes wrong, they can't blame my hardware or internet or anything. I'm sure that's not easy and maybe not even possible for some, but if you can, I'd recommend it.
