Challenging an ARE score

I've watched several people do it. It's a big waste of time and money. You'll learn nothing. NCARB will just tell you they checked your score and YOU FAILED!

Use your time, money and energy to focus on getting ready for the retake. If your not happy with the testing experience, complain to your State Architecture Board about NCARB.

Does anyone know if scoring level 1 for two low-medium content areas, level 2 for a large content area and level 3 for remaining 2 areas compare to the announced cut score of 57-62% of PDD could equal a pass? I emailed NCARB on my thoughts of my score possibly being a pass and hoping for a positive response. Wondering if anyone had similar experience. Although score came out level 3 of the last two content areas, I finished feeling I hit most of those questions and feel no way I would have missed all those questions. I feel I would have gotten at least 10% or more of those correct, which in total would likely meet the cut score of 57-62%. So I’m Wondering could there be a computer scoring kink like if my drag and drop bubble or points were correct but didn’t get picked up because of slight detail bubble misalignment Or any other reason like clicking on a note per instructions but maybe the computer scoring could be scanning for the detail area instead of the note?

I would think you're wasting your time. Just move on and study more. I've passed exams I thought I failed and I failed exams I thought I passed. You may very well have known the answer but what I've found in doing practice exams, is that I still get 5-10% of the questions wrong, even though I knew the answer, but I missing one part of the questions. Such as, miss reading a word, picking 2 answers in stead of 3,  or even typing in a basic number incorrect as an answer, even though I had it correct.

Thank you William for taking time to respond to my question. You know the feeling of disappointment when I really feel It was a pass? Just feel like it’s one of those close call moments that deserve a review, especially when I receive the % distribution of my level 1 and level 2, I believe I’m +/- 53% total correct for those 3 areas which means if to achieve a level 3 category means at least 5-10% correct (which I feel I did achieve at least this), I’d already had met the 57-62%. Otherwise, Inhope to understand what’s the % range of answers correct to be placed into a level 4 category? I would imagine getting less than 0-5% is level 4, but it’s all part of my question. I’m hoping to understand how are my results per category and in total relative to the cut score? I saw that someone noted they scored level 2 on all contents but then received a “FAIL”. This indicates to me that my question is valid because, the computer scoring could very well have a kink requiring resolution.

I was just told by NCARB that no one has ever successfully challenged the results and went from a fail to pass. very annoying given that they charge 300$ for a challenge and give you no additional feedback. I got a 524 (64.2% or one question off ) on CE which has a pass range of 58-65.. not sure how someone can pass with a 58 but and fail with a 64.2 but it looks like a retake is in my future.

Point & click and drag & drop are the only ones with room for error. Drag & drop is going away.

As for how can you fail, the passing score range is associated with the difficulty of the questions you get. At least that's what I thought.

So forgetting the content of the questions, if you have a monkey take the test, the hardest questions on the exam will always be choose 4 out of six, a drag & drop with many items, or a hotspot (unlimited options of where to click). I assume a test with more of those means a harder test/lower possible passing score.

If it makes you feel better I failed my CE as well, and my test was mainly single or two choice multiple choice (easiest).
