AHPP Errors
Can someone shed some light on why AHPP is so inaccurate? It seems that every time I cross reference facts, or actually analyze the content, something is wrong. Wiley / AIA really needs to do a better job reading the material before publishing. For example in AHPP, figure 9.3 Sequences and Key Decisions. The delivery method option "Cost plus fixe fee" places the decision of selecting the contractor before DD, yet in the text on page 514 says the the contractor is selected at the end of the contract documents. Which is correct?
Also figure 10.20, the BIM percentages for fee adds up to 102% - lol.
I don't know if that type of question shows up on exams, but I think that NCARB really needs to dive into this material more to make sure the information they pull from AHPP is actually consistent throughout the book. There are more instances I'm sure - but it's just scary to be seeing these kinds of discrepancies when preparing for exams. Its definitely disconcerting to see such a disconnect in basic info. Not to mention, the fee structure in 10.20 doesn't match Black Spectacles chart for fees, and Black Specs material is "sanctioned" by NCARB.
My biggest concern is getting a problem wrong on the ARE exam that NCARB says is correct based on one location of AHPP but is incorrect in another location such as the example above. Has anyone else found issues like this?
