Online proctoring. Passed

Done with ARE. I did my ppd in person and pdd online. Here are my thoughts for your reference:

• New release of ARE 5.0. This is the same whether or not you take it in-person or online.
• White board: I actually like it. Eraser is super laggy, just create another page instead. If you are still worried, practice with their mock-up exam. You can open that on one screen and your third party questions on another. Get it?
• You can take multiple breaks but the question you viewed earlier will be locked when you are back. Make sure you understand this point!
•  Online proctoring or not in COVID times? Please use your best judgement.
• In person: Wearing mask indoors for 5 hours in a room packed with people (definitely not 6 feets apart). But it saves you the nerve on non-exam-related issues. For example: check-in process in test center deals with only you, sleeves and ankles while the online version has to cover every corner of your room including underside of the table.
• Online: Extra effort on non-exam-related side like setting up hardware, your room and check-in process. My 4-hour pdd test turned out to be 8-hour long.   Microphone: Needs to be on full time during the exam. Headphones not allowed. This is easy for laptop but for desktop you need an external microphone?
  Webcam: Needs to be on full time during the exam. Needs to be able to autofocus to see each letter on your ID in the check in process
  Laptop (closed lid)+ external screen allowed but a lot of proctor doesn't know this. Be prepared to argue with them and wait for approval from their supervisor, otherwise, use a desktop.

  Is Prometric ProProctor an app you download on your computer or is it web based?

  It’s the app you need to download and install on your computer to facilitate the test.

  Did you have to allow it through your firewall? I’m having issues downloading the application

  If you are using your own computer, then allowing it through firewall sounds viable. If you want to use office computer, you might need help from your IT department.

  I didn’t have the installation issue. So if my answer didn’t help you, maybe you can ask prometric customer service.
