I wish I knew before the Online Proctor Exam
Recently took the PPD exam with the online Proctor. Here are some things I experienced.
1. It takes some time for the proctor to check you in. SHOW UP EARLY.
2. Webcam. I saw conflicting info about whether or not you could use your laptop webcam. My proctor said you could not. This caused me to have to restart the process and lose one of the three disconnection chances. Apparently if you get disconnected more than 3 times your out of luck. This hitch put me into a panic. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A SEPARATE CAMERA that autofocuses.
3. Monitor. I did not think I could use an external monitor. My proctor said I could. It was really hard to do the last questions because of the scrolling. USE A BIGGER MONITOR
4. The online proctors often took several minutes to respond to your request to take breaks. They were also unclear about how many breaks you were allowed etc. I had to use the restroom and it took them nearly 10 minutes to respond. It was very distracting. PLAN YOUR BREAKS ACCORDINGLY.
5. With the breaks and number of questions I found I had sufficient time. Previously I was working up to the last minute. RELAX and take your time.
