Thursday’s 6pm ET Zoom Meeting is titled, “Thermal Zoning”. You’ll take the first five minutes of class to answer the question alone, but if you would like to get a head-start on that, here is the assignment.
A large national self storage chain has hired an architect to design a 56-unit one-floor self storage building in a mixed climate. Each of the storage rooms will be accessed through a roll-up garage door and they will be arranged in a windowless L-shaped building on either side of a double-loaded corridor. The units will be climate-controlled to protect from extremes (temperatures in any storage room at any time will be maintained between 55 and 90 degrees). The total size of the building will be 9,856 SF. What is the fewest number of air-handling units (AHUs) appropriate to heat and cool this space?
1 AHU
2 AHUs
4 AHUs
56 AHUs
