Field Reports part of Contract Documents?
This case study question in the CE practice exam is confusing me - it's saying that since the architect noted in their field report that the gyp board in unit 304 needed to be replaced, the contractor can't request a change order. Is this because the field report is considered part of the contract documents, and therefore the contract documents included the need for moisture resistant gyp board? There isn't anything saying that moisture resistant gyp was specified in the first place, so I don't understand why a change order would be inappropriate if there is extra cost for the change.

It is confusing. If the language is “Moisture resistant gypsum board is missing and not installed per the construction documents…”, then a change order can be denied.

If a contractor did poor work, or didn't protect the work and it got wet or damaged, they need to replace it. There's no change order because it's not additional work or an upgrade.
Hope this helps!

I also found this question on the practice exam to be very confusing.
I find that I get questions like this wrong because either I assume things (e.g. assume that the contractor did a poor job or missed something the question did not clarify) or go the opposite direction and take things are face-value.
Any advice on how one can approach vaguely worded questions like this?
