Building Science Fight Club Course -- $150 off if enroll as a team of min. 2 people
Anyone interested in taking The Complete Course from Building Science Fight Club?
Building Science for Architects (The Complete Course) (buildingsciencefightclub.com)
If we sign up with a friend or colleague, all of us will receive $150 off the Complete Course. We do not need to be at the same firm, and we can pay separately, but we will need to enroll within the same week.

This is advertising and should not be posted here. Nobody is allowed to advertise in here. The business asking you to post this should not be doing this.
And building science is not really a major topic for the ARE. :(

The business did not pay me a single cent for this. I am genuinely interested in taking the course and will be happy to have someone else joining as well so we can both get a discount. Anyway, I finally registered by myself since no one responded and paid the full price for it so will deactivate the post if possible.
Just responding to your comment so people don't think that I'm trying to scam anyone.

Rebekka: I am the creator of Building Science for Architects (and Building Science Fight Club on Instagram). I did not ask (or pay!) Meita or anyone else to post anything here (or anywhere else) on my behalf. And, honestly, the accusation stings a bit. This ought to be a collegial environment. Why would you assume that fellow design professionals were engaged in unethical behavior?
Meita: Thanks for clearing that up! I wish I'd seen your post to try to connect you with someone. I hope you love the course. (I really think you will:))
For the record, I've been active on this forum lately because I've been taking the AREs myself and it's super helpful to read the questions and answers here and get a little encouragement, too. I've just passed my last exam (mostly using Amber Book, Desk Crits, and the AIA contracts themselves), but I hope to continue to check-in every now and then to answer questions, just as so many others do even after they've passed.
As for my course (Building Science for Architects), consider this an anti-ad! The course was not at all designed with the AREs in mind, and Rebekka is correct to point out that building science is really not all that big a part of the AREs. That said, BSFA would absolutely be a huge help in actual professional practice to anyone who wishes to become more technically proficient and more confident on job sites. (Seriously: It's a really good class).
Good luck friends and colleagues! This process is beastly! But, hey, we made it through studio, too:)

Thanks, Michael!
Also, Rebekka: I wasn’t sure about this before so I checked, but it is indeed illegal (as you have previously noted) to give paid testimonials without disclosing that they are paid… but it’s *also* illegal to defame someone by falsely accusing them of a crime. And, in fact, since NCARB moderates this forum, they could be liable as well!
Now, even though I don’t know Meita, I very much doubt she’ll sue you! And I certainly won’t! But these types of accusations seem to be a habit for you. (https://are5community.ncarb.org/hc/en-us/community/posts/12314898415639-Finished-PDD-and-done-Passed-all-6-exams-in-2-weeks-on-1st-try-)
Let’s all try to keep our eyes on the prize here, which is to help those pursuing licensure. Surely there’s room for all of us.
Best,

Christine - I don’t appreciate being accused of making “defamatory” comments. Defaming is lying. What I say is 100% fact. And I have the goods to back it up.
Also, if you are affiliated with Michael in any way, him giving a “testimonial” of your business without disclosing his affiliation is an FTC violation. I doubt he's doing your course just for fun! And I saw a post about Michael's endorsement of a different ARE product on social media last week. And you just admitted that you didn’t have a clear knowledge of the FTC regulations. And the FTC is cracking down on the paid 'influencers' in other industries.
Perhaps Michael should disclose who all of his affiliates are?
If I made an infographic of just the affiliations I have evidence of, it would be a very large & tangled web. It's fine to have affiliates - it's NOT fine to promote them to consumers without disclosing your relationship. And it's VERY lucrative.
You love your position Christine - that's there's room for all of us. That's how it should be - like different types of food - something for everyone's needs. But that's not the position of everyone in the industry.
Best wishes!

Rebekka - you accused Meita of posting a paid advertisement for my course, and me of paying her. You have no evidence of this, and it is not true. Lying about this is… well, lying.
Since you brought it up, I also have no financial relationship with Michael, though I do consider him a friend. I met him at a conference and I paid to take Amber Book shortly thereafter. I did not ask for - or receive - a discount.

If customers are financially INCENTIVIZED to post ads for groups, how’s that any different from paying them? $150 is still $$$. And the fact that I have to explain FTC regs, etc has me concerned, and only reinforces the point I’m trying to make... 🤦♀️
And DONT YOU DARE CALL ME A LIAR. I highly suggest you remove that post. -
It’s a group rate, Rebekka. Lots of businesses offer them. They are not illegal. Nor is it illegal for individuals to seek partners to pursue any number of joint activities for their mutual benefit.
The OP was not engaged in “advertising” and she is in no way an “affiliate”.
Incidentally, affiliate marketing is not illegal, either, so long as deception is not occurring. The OP specifically explained she was seeking a partner to take advantage of a group rate.
The OP did not break any law in posting. And neither did I in offering a group rate in the first place.

That's hilarious! Rebecca is protesting (strongly:)) against advertising BUT HAS HER LINK to her ARE (!) classes in her signature ! HAHA!!! I guess Christine "paid back with hers:)" but at least it is NOT THE ARE CLASS !!! Just knowledge for life.
I got to find that second person to take the class..:) any takers???
Sorry Rebecca.. I am done with ARE...

Glad you see the humor:) In retrospect I regret responding to this thread in the first place, but deleting comments now feels dishonest.
Agnieszka (and anyone else interested): please just email me directly at christycronin@gmail.com. The course might help with the AREs but it was never intended to be a study resource.
People come here for learning and community — the responses to this thread diminish that and I’m embarrassed by them.

The “humor” is that others have gotten removed from this forum for MONTHS for posting links to “group discounts” or just posting email address with the intent to get a customer. This is NCARB’s rule. They allow the signatures with a link, but that’s it.
And if you are affiliated with another company, getting a commission or reciprocal service, and you’re promoting it online WITHOUT disclosing it, it does violate federal regulations.
You wIll need to remove your posts Christine.
I don’t make the rules, but I will continue to point out when they are arbitrarily and unfairly applied.
