Practice Exam Q72 firestop in steel roof deck gaps
The wall hits the physical underside of the steel roof deck. all thats left to do is add the mineral wool plugs and fire stop. yet the answer is "wrong" I hope the real exam is not this tricky

Hello Robert,
Your assessment is valid. While there may be some slight modifications to the drywall depending on what type of fire-stopping assembly is used, the modification should be in the open corrugation of the metal deck. We've flagged this for review by our item writing volunteer architects and they will make revisions as necessary for future practice exam updates.

Robert,
You brought up a good point, adding the mineral wool plugs can help reduce noise transmission, but fire stop may NOT be needed since the question did NOT mention it is a rated wall.
I think NCARB’s original intent is to test your knowledge of the slip track since the partition wall is 16’ high and not a bearing wall, it needs a slip track.
