Passing The Exam
Upon failure of an exam, is it more expedient to study the for the same exam until the retake or try another exam and later revisit the failed exam?

It all depends on your pace. Some suggest you study for 3 months then in about 3 weeks take all the exams and others think it's best to go one at a time. The venn diagram shows that all the test sections overlap, which is true, but it should also show the relative size of the information you'll need to know for each exam. Some are more focused and the the PPD and PDD cover alot more ground.
So to otherwise ansewer the question, if you want to keep moving forward, you could look to that adjacent/overlapping test section and go for that one. It'll keep you on the study track and the overlapping material will stay fresh for retaking the first exam.

I typically suggest that candidates continue to study for the same exam, especially if they nearly passed the exam. However, if you took an exam that you didn't really study for, didn't take the exams in a sequence that makes sense (taking easier exams first, working up to the more difficult exams) then it may make sense to switch gears.
Since we are in the PcM area, I'd guess you failed PcM. It's a tough exam, which I'd recommend taking AFTER you pass CE & PjM.
Hope this helps!
