    Aaron,

Right now we do not have plans to expand international delivery to Australia, but it is certainly something we can look into!  Currently we deliver in London, Abu Dhabi, and Hong Kong because there is a larger concentration of ARE candidates or it is easier to get to (London for Europe and Hong Kong for mainland China).  Let us start looking at Australia.

    Aaron,

We are always interested in feedback regarding locations outside the US in which candidates are interested in testing.  You are the first to suggest an Australia test center.  While we're aware that Prometric has test centers located there, the ARE can only be offered in Prometric test centers that offer exams at the professional level.  (Not all of them do, as Prometric offers such a wide variety of exams, on different levels.)  We'll look into this, and would also like to receive suggestions from other candidates on where they would like to test internationally.  We'll keep everyone updated on new opportunities to test in cities/countries other than the US, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi and the UK.

    Ryan / Joan,

Thank you for the feedback. Has there been any further investigation into the possibility of expanding test centers to Australia? If I'm not mistaken, it appears that some of the test centers in Australia do offer exams at the professional level.

    Aaron,

We are actively working on researching options for expanding ARE delivery to additional international locations.  We'll provide updates as we have more information, so please stay tuned.

    Ryan / Joan,

Where is the London Testing Centre? And how do I request testing eligibility if I don't know what state I want to test for in the future?

    Thanks,

    Tiffany,

When you schedule your exam through your NCARB record, you can enter the location in which you are interested in testing and you'll be able to see the exact address.  The ARE is not available in all Prometric test centers, so that's the best way to find a test center that meets your needs -- through your NCARB record.  You can test in any Prometric test center that offers the ARE.  You don't have to test in the jurisdiction in which you want to become licensed.  You can also change the jurisdiction in which you want to become licensed during the testing process, or after you've completed the ARE.  Just be mindful that each jurisdiction has its own requirements around licensure, so it's best to review those first.

The London test center is located at 9 Cloak Lane.  I hope this helps.

    Ryan / Joan,

Please add South Korea too. Since the Prometric test center in Seoul provides professional level exams and there are many AIA candidates who would like to pursue the licensure, it would be great if we can take the exams in Seoul.

Since NCARB now has reciprocal licensing in both Australia and New Zealand I would like to see test centers there. It makes the most sense, to have them there, it is also very easy for a lot of countries to receive year long work/holiday visas to either of them so working from there while gaining IDP hours for the license would be synergistic to those candidates wanting to experience the industry in another country....like me!

Just want to leave another comment saying that Americans can also easily get a work/holiday visa in both NZ and AUS, in addition to the reciprocol licensing stated above. It just makes logical sense that those countries should be the next on the list. How do we get the ball rolling on this?

I concur with all commenters, especially Dimas. With the reciprocal agreement between the US and AUS/NZ, it makes sense for candidates to have testing centers in those countries. I personally would be interested in having testing centers in Australia and New Zealand, namely Melbourne, AUS and Wellington, NZ.

I would be over the moon if NCARB opened a testing center in Sydney (or anywhere in Australia)! I know I am not the only American wanting to sit these exams here. How many people do we need to rally together to make this happen?

    Elisa,

We're looking into this now since we've had a few requests for test center availability in Australia, and will keep you updated.

Earlier this year, I have just completed all my required experience hours and now looking to take my exams; however, I just checked and there is no testing center here in Australia. With no testing center, there will be no progress that I can do for the next couple of years as far as the US registration goes. I have asked several of my fellow architectural US graduates here in Australia and we all agree that it is unfortunate to not have a testing center in here when there are some testing centers in Sydney that partner with Prometric such as ITIC Sydney. The other graduates and I understand that we could switch to an Australian path of registration as well and transfer back to the US one when we need to but we would have to start over and that would be loss of time and money . As being said, I was wondering if there is anyway we can start an ARE testing exam in one of the testing centers in Sydney, Australia or the neighboring state? it would really help myself and my fellow graduates further our career. We could help coordinate or do whatever to help make that happens. I have been in touched with Ncarb via email but hasn’t been very responsive. I asked couple questions but the response was the “thank you for your feed back reply...”

    Hi Joan,

Thank you for your reply! When might we be able to expect a decision to be made regarding whether you are able to provide the test in Sydney?

    Much thanks,
    Elisa

    Elisa,

I'm working with Prometric on establishing a time frame, as NCARB is planning on adding testing locations in multiple sites.  I'll provide an update here when I have more information.  In addition, NCARB will be making the information available through all of our other communication channels.

I relocated to Hong Kong late 2016 and plan to take the ARE 5.0 exams. There were news about prometric test centers in Hong Kong however I couldn't find a link or location anywhere online. Could you provide me with links or test location in Hong Kong please? Much appreciated.

Ervin, use the website to schedule an exam and select HK as your location and it will show you the exact address. It's at the HKEA near Diamond Hill. I took 4 of my exams there on two occassions earlier this year. Exams were inly available on Tuesdays and Thursdays

    Hi there,

I'm awaiting my exam eligibility from New York State, but would like to enquire about which test centres are (or are potentially) available in Australia/NZ. I'm an Australian currently living in the US, having fulfilled most of my AXP hours but am looking at moving back to Aus temporarily for family reasons.

    Best,

    Sam

    Sam,

The ARE is delivered through Prometric test centers in Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne, as well as in Auckland, NZ.
