    Hi Kurt,

I took PCM and PJM during the incentives that NCARB had for early test takers. I thought I did ok on those but I also failed them. Admittedly, I was more focused on memorizing the content rather than concepts.

This second time around in studying for CE I made it a point to do less memorizing and focus on the concepts and different scenarios when something in the contract breaks down. I'm not even sure how to explain it as I thought I did well. Some answers I was not confident about but others I was. I don't know what I would do differently the next time around.

    Francis,

What studying materials have you been using. I study for PcM, PjM and CE as a bundle and did very well on all of them, pass them on the 1st try. They way I have approach all the 5.0 exams is in bundles. Some people study for each exam and it work for them. I think, if you study for more than one at a time you are over studying for each exam but not for the bundle. There is so much overlapping in all the exams, that I've found this technique to be very efficient.

I would highly recommend watching and reading

-Kevin Griendling's videos from pluralsight for PcM and PjM. Very helpful!!

-Black spectacles videos give a great overview of the material and some great examples.

-Shift Hardin's lectures. This lectures help me a lot to understand all the contracts.

    -AHPP a must!!!

But must important, find as many practice questions as you can. Sometimes is not the knowledge, but how the questions is presented. There is almost all the time 2 answers that you can determine that are false and 2 that are a possibility. Knowing how to approach an exam is not just the about the content that you study. I've found that some very complicated questions get less complicated after I read all the answers and determine which don't make any sense.

    Hope it helps, good luck!!!

    Thanks Daniel,

Your feedback and suggestions will be something I will definitely look into. As for study material , it was all the study msyieral suggest under the CE section. I added shift lectures as well.

I couldn't agree with you more regarding the test questions. I think this may be a weakness but it find it very hard to find practice questions. Do you have any suggestions for that?

    Francis,
I used ballast 5.0 practice exams, the 2 books they have. Designer hacks CDS, SPD AND PPP. brighwood qbank.
I would higly recomend getting in contact with Michael Risisca from Youngarchitect.com i took his boot camp. It was very helpfull he has a sylabus that will cover all the materials for the 3 exam bundle that i mention. But most important is the help and guide he provides. Also he has a system with meet ups using go to meeting that help a lot. Going thru questions with everyone involved in the boot camp.
A friend of mine recommended me his boot camp and thats how i started my journy of ARE. My 1st exam was at the end of march and i only have 2 more to go. Hopefully will finish in a couple of weeks with all 6 exams.
Michael has been a great guide thru all this process.
Hope it helps. I know is an investment to spend so much on boot camp and books, but at the end is an investment on your future. Also still cheaper that retaking exams.
    Good luck!!!
