PDD Poorly written questions

    Hannah,

I had a similar issue, but with a single question that I thought was very poorly worded on the PcM exam. I emailed NCARB regarding it the day after my exam (February 28th) and got the usual "We've received your email -- we'll get back to you" automated response. I did not hear from them on it until April 6th, when I was told my comments were being forwarded to the ARE department for review. Four days later on the 10th, I got an almost identical email saying that my comments were forwarded to the item writing committee. I didn't receive any information on whether or not anyone agreed with me that it was poorly worded, that they were working on it, etc. -- only that my comments were noted and passed along.

The point I'm getting at is that even though three weeks seems like a long time to get feedback on something like this, it seems to be the norm. And, when you get feedback, it may not be what you want, which is unfortunate.

    Hi Hannah,

We're following up with our Customer Relations team about your email.  Thanks for letting us know you're still awaiting a response.

And for Stephanie, too - all exam content is written and reviewed by the Examination Committees, so candidate feedback about specific items would typically be reviewed by those committees as well.  You can learn more about our committees here.

    Hannah,

Do you mind to let me know how long it took before you got your PDD score report?  I took it the first time before the reports were out, so I waited a while (I failed it too), I am taking it again in a month and I'm just curious how quickly the reports are going out.    I'm really struggling with what I should study differently this time, but just trying to work really hard and be as prepared as possible.  I've actually gone back to the 4.0 material to see if its more helpful.  This is my last exam, so if I fail it again, not sure what I'll do to prepare.

    Thanks so much!
    Meredith

    Meredith,

I took PDD and PPD both after the cut score was established, and got my results at 5 AM the day after testing.  (my state doesn't have a hold on releasing scores)

Meredith - I had to wait 2 days for my score as Texas holds the scores for 24 hours.  Good luck!

    Stephanie,

Thanks for your reply - it was helpful to see what someone else's experiences have been.  Joan did reply to my comment via email, though I've still yet to receive a response to my original email.

I just don't believe that this test was properly vetted, and can only hope that they will make some small corrections after reading my email.  Fingers crossed that next test I (and we all) get better questions.

I can also commiserate with everyone. It seemed like on multiple occasions exam problems would have images that were blurry and with such tiny print that it was very difficult to read and comprehend. I took the exam May 12 and wrote them on the 15th but have not heard anything either. It is very frustrating!

Yeah I'm in a bit of disbelief that my email was lost.  I received the standard confirmation email that it was received when I sent it.  Luckily I did save out a copy of it to my computer, because I wouldn't remember enough to rewrite it at this point.

Joan - I will be resending it, I just got back from a vacation but will find it and resend.

I was really disappointed in this tests ability to judge my level of knowledge on the topics at hand. Very obscure questions, some that I literally couldn't answer because of what I would called mistakes with the questions.
