    Good job Alicia!

I took CE too and would say the contracts were the most important thing to know as well. NCARB did hit the nail with this one in all aspects. Best exam of the three I have taken. I do have a few things to suggest improving but will wait until the new year to put together my thoughts.

This is mainly for NCARB and some folks opinions on the subject.

One of the things I noticed that were pretty frustrating is that if there is a quantitative fill in the blanks question and you skip because you dont want to do math yet (time consuming item vs another less time consuming item 1 point anyways) is that the summary marks it as complete even though you did not do it you just skipped it to do another question. How is one supposed to know the ones that are not complete if they dont show up? Thats the whole point of marking for review and I know but you also have the INCOMPLETE with red letters on them.

    Hey Darguin,

Thank you for the feedback. To further understand the issue that you are explaining, could you launch the ARE 5.0 Demonstration Exam through your NCARB record and let me know if the Incomplete/Complete and Mark for Review functions are operating the same as you experienced in the test center? This information will help us in our investigation of the issue.

    Thank you,

    Nick

    It behaved differently.

Questions that had to do with math and so forth if I skipped and went to the next question it would show up as complete on the summary. I had a hard time finding the questions to do them. I left them for last. I am afraid I might have left them empty do to this issue.

To clarify thw issue. All questions that had quantitative fill in the blanks were marked as complete just by opening them or as soon as they showed up. I skipped all math related items for last and had I not had time left I would have not found them through the summary as fast. I double checked them and it said complete yet they were empty.

This is good to know. I have done a similar process in the two exams I've taken so far, however, I flagged these questions as well as leaving them incomplete. I did not take note of whether or not the exam summary marked them as incomplete since I was able to see clearly the flagged questions. If you take anymore exams before NCARB addresses this, I would suggest using the flag. Thanks for the feedback!

I just read this post after taking my exam.  Scary, as I know I used the strategy to leave questions incomplete and did not see as many as I thought I left.  I only had 2-3, but recall seeing one incomplete and figured I must have marked the other two as "marked".  Hopefully they take note of this system error.

    Hi Darguin and Rebecca,

We appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention.  We looked into the described problem further within our exam delivery software as well as within the exam forms that were delivered to each of you in the test center. We were unable to recreate the problem that you have described.  The Incomplete/Complete, Mark for Review, and the Exam Summary screen functioned properly. I can also confirm that both of you responded to all fill-in-the-blank items on your exams.

The ARE 5.0 Demonstration Exam utilizes the same delivery software as the actual exam so its functionality is identical to what you will experience in the test center.

Thanks for your prompt response Nick. It must have been just me. I actually took the time to check the issue multiple times during the exam. I went to the summary and they said complete and I went to do them and they were incomplete so no sure. I wrote each number of question down from there on so that I didnt miss them. Maybe I put a number and then erased it not sure if that would have done it.I am glad I filled them all in. Thanks again Nick.

So I took C&E today and was pleased with the experience. However my big issue was that some of the data and information on the images was small, medium quality, and very hard to read. It was bad enough that I had to get up off my seat a few times so I could bend and look closer to the screen. This only happened a few times, but it was enough times that the eye strain made me headachy. Is there a way that this type of picture/data/question could be either scaled properly on the screen, or the system could add a "zoom" button so the image is more readable? while one is trying to solve for it? I swear I'm not blind, but today I felt like that.
NOTE that I do not refer to the Case Study questions -those had good zoom capabilities. However I refer to the other questions part of the test where an image with data/information had to be read, and which were poor on quality.

    Darguin,

I'm scheduled to take CE on Mark 15. You mentioned the contracts were definitely important. What other resources did you study? Did you use the CSI manual that NCARB lists?

    Thanks!
