When should I begin studying?
Hello,
I am about to graduate from my university and I am curious about when I should begin studying for the exams. I am currently about 25% through my AXP hours and am looking to become licensed as soon as possible. Is it too early to be thinking about the exams? Should I be more focused on completing my AXP hours first? Just trying to get an idea for when people began their studies in pursuit of their license. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

It’s never too early. If you want to keep going I would just look at it like another semester and study for the AREs. The Amber Book is a great corse that will be about a month long if you act like it’s your full time job (I did the Amber along with a full time job and it took about 2.5 months) Then you will be licensed before you know it.
Don’t worry about the AXP. That will come as you get experience. You can’t really speed that up at all.
I’m not positive if every state will allow you to take the exams before completing AXP so look into that first. Good luck and welcome to the ARE community!
PS. keep in mind most firms will help you pay for exams and study material.

Hi Joseph,
NOW is always a great time to start!! The sooner you begin, the sooner you finish!
Start by reading Architect's Handbook of Professional practice.
Good luck!
