The NCARB Board of Directors recently approved recommendations from the Examination Committee regarding the format of the adjusted ARE 5.0, which will enable an online proctored delivery option later this fall. As part of their deliberations, the Board took into consideration the recent communication from candidates regarding the ability to utilize scratch paper while taking the ARE at a Prometric testing site.
To ensure you are aware of ongoing developments and upcoming exam changes (i.e., digital whiteboard implementation, increased flexibility for frequent breaks, reduction of total question per division, etc.), as well as the decision-making process behind these changes, the Board has released a statement. NCARB will be providing candidates with additional information related to the new ARE format, as well as supplemental resources, next week.
The NCARB Board is committed to providing candidates with a secure, rigorous, and defensible exam that, in turn, protects the public. The Board would like to thank the entire candidate community for sharing their feedback—as they work to deliver the ARE in a manner that is fair and accessible for all.
