Released November 3, 2020
To help you prepare for the launch of the Architect Registration Examination®(ARE®) online proctoring option on December 14, 2020, NCARB’s exam team has responded to every question posed before, during, or after our recent live webinar.
Online Proctoring Q&A
We received over 200 different questions during our last live webinar. To make sure you have the answers you need, NCARB staff created video responses for the questions we didn’t get to during the webinar. The entire series of Q&A videos is available now, including the final videos exploring: the new digital whiteboard, exam accommodations, cut scores and pass rates, study materials, the transition to PSI, and NCARB as an organization.
To make it easier to find the answers you’re looking for, we’ve grouped the Q&A responses by topic. Visit our blog or YouTube channel to watch this round of Q&A videos, or catch up on the first two installments—including questions about the new break policy and the reasons behind the upcoming exam changes.
Coming Soon: Updated Demonstration Exam
NCARB anticipates launching the new, full-length demonstration exam soon. Be sure to check your email for another ARE Update later in the week.
The new demo exam will have an extended testing length, incorporate the new features that will be implemented on December 14, and more fully simulate the breadth and depth of the exam experience. In particular, this update will feature the new digital whiteboard tool and additional changes aligning with the launch of online proctoring (such as the new break feature and navigation). This includes enhancements to the PDF reader used to view and navigate the various case study resources.
If you have a question we haven’t answered yet, please contact us online or on the ARE 5.0 Community
